Fred Jamieson was the founder and
CEO of Windsor Propeller Company; he passed away peacefully at
home on February 2, 2009. He was
81.
Fred’s career in aviation started as a
Naval Aviator in 1949. He went on
to work as an airline pilot, helicopter pilot, crop duster, test pilot, engi-
neer, inventor, machinist and model
airplane propeller designer. His
amazing career included working
for Hiller Helicopters and Hughes
Aircraft, as well as forming a helicoptor operation that supplied mining camps in Canada and Alaska.
It was during the mining “
off-season” that Fred re-discovered his

to hand-carve racing props for his
club, using his grandfather’s spokeshave. When he “retired” back to
California, he started making Master
Airscrew props in his garage using
lathes. He quickly got tired of the
sawdust from making wood props,
and he turned his sights on learing
to machine molds from his original

company with an old-fashioned
ideal of customer service. He has
passed along his values to his employees, who have worked for him a
combined 72 years. He semi-retired
in 2008. We miss you, Fred.
Good Flying, old friend.
