WHEN BH MODELS INTRODUCED this vintage racer, I knew I needed to find a way to
add it to my fleet. There’s just something
about a huge round cowl that gives me
warm fuzzies. This 84.65-inch-span ARF is
perfect for a 45 to 50cc gas engine and is
impressive on the flightline. The Red Lion
comes very well packed and protected in
its shipping box. The airframe is built up
of balsa and ply construction and expertly
covered with Oracover. A generous assortment of hardware and a 30-page manual
with more than 200 photos complete the
contents. If a picture is worth a thousand
words, well, you can do the math. They
have included a photo for just about every
step–—awesome!
Modelers at an intermediate or higher
experience level will find that the Red Lion
is a great step up into large scale gas and
a unique addition to round out your fleet.
UNIQUE FEATURES
As I removed each piece of the Red Lion
from the shipping container, it gave me
the chance to organize each of the pieces
and the associated hardware. For an airplane of this size, there were surprisingly
not many parts.
Each of the control surfaces use CA-type
hinges and are preslotted at the factory.
Before using CA to secure each surface in
place, I drill a small hole in center of each
