Joel Rosenzweig of Marlborough, MA,
is rightfully proud of his giant Vario
Erickson AirCrane. Converted to electric
power, it weighs in at 40 pounds and
develops 14hp from a 10S 10,000mAh
pack and can fly for six minutes. As you
can see, this helicopter looks as good as
the full-scale version.
Above: Tom Gregory of American RC Helicopters has revived
the old, but still very popular, Kavan Jet Ranger for .60-. 90 nitro
or electric power. Tom offers all the parts and expertise needed
to complete the project, and also plans to expand his lineup
of scale helicopters with the Lockheed 286L and the Sikorsky
S-58/H34.
Above: Mikado factory pilot Andy Rummer proudly shows off
this beautiful Hughes 500. Using Logo 600SE mechanics, this
10S battery-powered, V-Bar-controlled, 1500rpm helicopter
is very light and strong, and Andy puts it through its paces
with very graceful, yet aggressive, aerobatics. Below, right:
This Coast Guard HH52 “Sea Guard” uses modified T-Rex 600
mechanics and belongs to Rich Schultz of Centreville, VA.
Converted to electric power using a Scorpion motor with a 12S
5,000mAh battery pack, it weighs in at 14 pounds and actually
has a working hoist. This model has a special meaning to Rich
because he worked on the full-scale version while he was in the
Coast Guard.
