FLYING TWINS
U I was very impressed with your article
about flying multi-engine airplanes. First,
I love the B- 25 Mitchell medium bomber,
and the airplane was well represented.
More importantly, I found the story very
informative and well written. I have lots
of experience with large high-performance
scale planes and your article has nudged
me over the tipping point. I had been contemplating getting the 1⁄9-scale Top Flite
B- 25 ARF but seeing that you recommended it as a great first twin warbird, was all I
needed. It is a J-model however, so I will be
making some minor cosmetic changes to
make it into a B model. Thanks again for
delivering excellent material to us!

mother of all giant-scale events. Everyone
I talk to says that the two huge P-47s built
and flown by Frank Tiano and Scott Prossen were by themselves worth the effort to
attend this event. Do you have any additional information on these humongous
Thunderbolts?

Reggie, thanks for writing. The excitement

pleased you found our article helpful and
that you are getting your Top Flite B- 25
to join the fun. Send us a photo for “Pilot

Danny, Rich’s coverage really only
scratched the surface of this amazing
event. Monster Planes really gives the term
giant-scale a whole new meaning. There
were several amazing and truly over-the-top planes flying at the event. Frank’s and
Scott’s 1/3.4-scale P- 47 projects were true
labors of love and they were designed by
Frank to be flown. The fuselages are com-
MONSTER MAGIC
U I was pleased to see Rich Uravitch’s
report on the 2011 Monster Planes event
held in Lakeland, FL. I had attended Top
Gun at the Paradise Field, but was un-
able to make it down there again for this
posite laid up in custom-made molds and
the wings are very large traditional built-
up wood structures. The engines used were
the impressive Moki 400cc radial pow-
erplants and the 143-inch-span fighters
came in at 123 pounds. —GY
COVER PLANE
U I read online that you are giving away
the cover plane from your January 2012 issue. Is this true? The actual plane—or another one from the same company?
