Electronic Bomb Release System
;is is something every scale builder
is going to want on his aircraft. ;e new
electronic bomb release system lets you
program in up to six electronic pylon bomb
release units. Now being able to release
six di;erent bombs on an aircraft is cool
in itself, but this unit will let you program
in four di;erent release sequences. ;e
first is a one-by-one, which releases a
bomb each time the switch is activated.
;e three-by-three mode releases three
bombs each time the switch is activated.
;e sequential mode will drop the bombs
one after the other once the switch is
activated until all six are released. ;e
last mode is simultaneous which lets
everything go when the switch is moved.
;e digital control is the brains behind
the bomb deployment. It very easy to
install and hook up while only adding
3 ounces (not counting bombs) to the
aircraft. ;e only requirement is a 6-volt
2500mAh battery and one open receiver
channel. After that it’s “bombs away!” ;e
electronic release system costs $219.95.

DW FOAMIES
BEVELING MAT KIT
;is mat kit seems simple enough: it
includes a 6x18-inch self-sealing mat,
a stainless-steel straightedge and a
retractable utility knife. However, I find
that I use this thing all the time! ;e
straight has a 45-degree bevel on one
side that is perfect for cutting foam or
balsa. On foam planes, these cuts are
perfect for the hinge joints. ;e metal
edge guides the knife and produces a
straight line in the foam, leaving a nice
hinging surface.
I leave this mat and straight edge
on my building table and find that I am
always picking it up and using it to cut
just about everything from hook-and-loop fastener to balsa wing skins. ;e
45-degree cut on the edge of balsa wing
skins give a little better glue joint and
that joint disappears with a light sanding
to produce a smooth look. I also use this
for cutting UltraCote and MonoKote
covering. ;e straight edge allows me to
make some nice pin-stripes covering,
which I use to seal up canopies and
highlight color designs on the plane. ;e
small investment of $19.95 will serve you
well, as you will find yourself using this in
many di;erent ways including its original
design as a hinge cutter. –John Reid
