Opening the box, I was immediately
impressed with the quality. ;e
packaging was probably the best I’ve
seen of any manufacturer. Framed in
laser-cut balsa and ply, the Dauntless
sports the early-war, three-color
scheme of Corsair blue, light blue, and
white in durable Oracover. ;is is a
Designed to give the builder choices,
the Dauntless can use electric or glow
power systems and includes very
sturdy, sprung, mechanical retracts
that are preinstalled. ;e six channels
require up to seven standard servos and
one low-profile retract servo. I chose to
use an electric motor, which reduced
the servo count by one.
;e SBD was intended for the
intermediate pilot and doesn’t require a
great deal of building skills. ;e detailed
manual covers most areas quite well.
;e level of prefabrication leaves little
more than joining the wings, attaching
the horizontal stabilizer, and installing
the radio and motor.
